TASTE TEST: Cola

Following up our salsa taste test, we conducted a simple cola compare/contrast.
Our selections were simple: Coke, Pepsi, Mexican Coke, Pepsi Throwback, RC. We noticed another generic Acme brand but opted out due to to it's location-based guzzle specificity.

While our taste buds certainly sat shotgun with our heart rates on the sugar roller-coaster, we discovered the horror that we actually unanimously chose Pepsi. Although many reports indicate that pepsi always wins these sorts of things based on minimal sips, and that real die hard soda drinkers always conclude a full can or bottle is just too sweet. So join us any Saturday night for Chi-chis and Pepsi at Casa de los Snak Ataq. We'll leave the D&D out for ya.

TASTE TEST: Salsa

The Lineup: Old El Paso, Mission, Tostinos, Trader Joes, Green Mountain, Newman's, Pace and Chi-chi's

The Style: Chunky

Measures: Looking for common store brands / stuff you could find in a pinch either at a local grocery store/ corner store/ gas station or, obviously, Trader Joe's [who snuck in by lou of showing up way before the party].

Two rounds were conducted. The first, a straight spoonful of salsa. This allowed for full texture absorption and a flavor untampered by outside elements. The real deal, you might say.

The second round introduced the chip and "crunch" factor, crucial to creating a relationship between the tomato-based party dip and the party in our mouths. Trader Joes yellow corn salted chips were used [for cost effectiveness (this ain't the big leagues*)] already purchased though we would have probably preferred some mass-produced-you-can-find-in-any-food-mart-in-the-sticks-kind-of tortilla chip.

The Results:

Essentially, half of us discovered the amazing news that we preferred Chi-chi's. The other half went the route to Green Mountain. Unanimously, we agreed Old El Pasa was strained through gym socks and Trader Joe's was essential pizza sauce [remind me to use on tonight's south of the border pizza].

Another horrifying discovery in next week's taste test....

TASTE TEST: Root Beer

WEST COAST SNAQ DISPATCH
From w.w.

Best on right. Good in middle. Not so good on left. The results may have been skewed by 5-7 year old participants with underdeveloped taste buds.

...fuck if I can figure out the method we used to pick the winners...but it looks scientific enough.

From Out of the Crypt. It RISES! It LIVES!

Cheerwine Cake purchased at undisclosed North Carolina mountain gas station in Summer of 2009.
Still sitting on top of my fridge.
